The youth sector in Tasmania includes a number of regional groups, issues based groups and YNOT sub-committees, all of which play important roles in disseminating information, consulting with stakeholders, and facilitating communication and coordination in the sector.
This section of the site brings together information from these coordinating groups.
The Regional Groups
The effective coordination of the youth sector in Tasmania is greatly enhanced by the activities of three autonomous regional groups and a number of local groups. The regional groups preceded the development of YNOT, and have formed the foundation on which YNOT has built its state-wide coordination mechanism.
The regional groups were developed to provide coordination of activities in the youth sector at a regional level. Their existence facilitates a degree of coordination and communication across the state that could not otherwise be achieved. The three regional groups are:
North West Action for Youth (NWAY) is supported and resourced by the Burnie City Council, Deveonport City Council and is hosted by the municipalities across the region.
The regional groups are augmented by a number of local information sharing and networking groups. These groups also coordinate responses to local youth issues. There focus is primarily on the cities where they are located. They include:

It should be noted that the youth sector in Tasmania is dynamic and continually evolving. We will endeavour to keep this information on the structure of the sector up to date, but expect that it may often lag behind new developments.
