Northern Youth Coordinating Committtee

The Northern Youth Coordinating Committee meets at Launceston City Council, St Johns Street. The meetings are chaired by Alderman Frank Nott and coordinated by Wendy Newton (Youth and Community Officer – Launceston City Council)

Purpose and Aims of NYCC

The purpose of the Northern Youth coordinating committee (NYCC) is to provide an opportunity for youth workers in Northern Tasmania to:
  • develop coordinated and integrated service responses to youth particularly disadvantaged youth
  • foster a regional, strategic approach to the development of
    services for youth across all sectors
  • seek better outcomes for young people within the region
  • ensure coordination between the three tiers of government and non-government sector, at a regional level
  • assist organisations to address regional issues and share
    information
  • give regional input to statewide networks
  • act as an advisory body to Launceston City Council and other agencies.

Open Forums

Organisations and/or individuals are invited to present information that is relevant to the purposes and aims of NYCC at open forums. These forums take place on demand prior to regular NYCC meetings (Town Hall Committee Room).
The forums are open to NYCC members and other interested individuals and organisations.

NYCC Members

NYCC members are drawn from individuals/organisations both government and non government who work with and for young people in the north of the state.
