Central Coast Youth Leaders Council Pledge for a Plunge

The Central Coast Youth Leaders Council hosted the Pledge for a Plunge event to help support the FightMND 27 Challenge on the last day of the Challenge - Friday 27 November, 2020.

Four local secondary schools nominated teachers and students to take the plunge! Including:

•    Ulverstone Secondary College
•    Penguin District School
•    Leighland Christian School
•    North West Christian School

Plus the Youth Leaders Council were able to convince the Council’s General Manager, Sandra, along with local MP, Felix Ellis and Central Coast Councillors Philip Viney and Casey Hiscutt to take the challenge on the day!

The total funds raised were over $11k.  All funds went to FightMND who are determined to fund vital MND research and help find a cure for MND. The average life expectancy of someone diagnosed with MND is just 27 months, hence the challenge and how important every dollar counts.

It was wonderful to see so many plungers, local radio host Lee Dixon, along with NBL1 basketballers Nick Haywood and Mason Bragg, dressed up and take the plunge into the chilled Ulverstone Waterslide, while others had a great big bucket of ice tipped over their head! Great day!  Who knows it may even happen again this year – but some reckon the ice bucket was terrible but going down the slide was so much more fun!
