Circular Head Youth Leaders - COVID-19 Care Packs

During March last year, Circular Head Youth Leaders helped out the Circular Head community by providing them with support throughout the first few weeks of our COVID lockdown.

Circular Head is a fairly small region, so many people are aware of who is who, and who would need the most help during this tough time. The Youth Leaders banded together and came up with different ideas on how to not only support members of Circular Head, but also how we could show that we cared for residents of the area.

During one of our zoom meetings, the idea of care packs was brought to the table. Selected members of the leadership group delivered care packs to members of the community, allowing a variety of people to receive a care pack. Although we tried to have a variety of recipients, we generally focused on giving the care packs to elderly or at-risk residents.

The care packs consisted of the following items: tissues, vouchers for Circular Head businesses, affirmation cards, hand sanitiser, colouring sheets and passionfruit. This not only helped recipients to ‘stock up’ on supplies, but it also helped put a smile on their faces.

2020 was meant to be a busy year for the Circular Head Youth Leaders, but COVID put our plans out of whack. Instead of holding big events, we instead decided to help out our neighbours because although they were isolated, we still wanted to make them feel that they were part of the community.
