Art For Iran [Youth Week Tasmania 2023]

The Art for Iran is a twofold event. We start with an art workshop where people can come together and do artwork to show solidarity, and express their views on the Women. Life. Freedom movement. Everyone from the age of 12-25 is welcome to come! You are also welcome to submit digital artwork, please send it to the email below. We will then display all the artwork at the Art For Iran exhibition.

The artwork will represent two different standpoints. One lens is of the Iranian community in Tasmania, an insider perspective, of how the tragic death of 22-year-old Mahsa Jina Amini has fueled the community with sadness and anger, how the movement and how the death of their loved ones has impacted their lives. Their art will be a reflection of their feelings of helplessness, grief, rage, and solidarity. The other lens is of young people of Tasmania that have had the privilege to stand in solidarity with Iranians and watch the movement unfold from farther away. Their art will demonstrate how young people from the global community have also been impacted by the cause, and the action.
